Gary Spangler
Science Teacher 7th - 12th Grade

Hello, my name is Gary Spangler. I grew up in central Indiana and am still a “Hoosier” at heart. After graduating from Ball State University with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Industrial Education and Technology, I began teaching Industrial Education at a junior high school in Anderson, Indiana. It was there that I discovered how much I enjoy working with teenage students.
Over the years, I worked for three different General Motors plants in various roles—including Production Machinist, Production Supervisor, and Industrial Engineer. Eventually, I moved with my wife and two daughters to California to work for an Indiana-based company called Hill-Rom, which manufactures and sells hospital beds and other patient room products. I worked as a field salesman for 30 years, traveling extensively throughout the western United States.
After retiring, my family and I relocated to Surprise, Arizona, where my wife and I joined our daughter in homeschooling our three granddaughters through their K–12 journey. My primary contribution was teaching math and science. In my spare time, I enjoy golfing, woodworking, and landscaping.
Last year, I served as an aide at Tandem and enjoyed working with the 7th and 8th grade students. This year, I’m looking forward to teaching junior high and high school science and continuing to invest in the next generation of learners.
