¡Hola! Hi, everyone! My name is Marta Avila, and I am so excited to be part of the Tandem family as your Spanish teacher! I was born in the beautiful country of El Salvador, where Spanish is my first language. When I was eight years old, my family moved to the United States, and I grew up in Los Angeles, California. I graduated from California State University, Northridge with a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies, and I have always had a passion for teaching and helping students learn.

While living in California, I met my wonderful husband, and we have now been married for 15 years. In 2016, our family moved to Arizona, and we absolutely love calling it home. We have three amazing children—Samuel, Emma, and Sofia—and have been homeschooling them since preschool. Homeschooling has been one of the greatest blessings for our family, and I am so thankful for the opportunity to be part of their educational journey.

Teaching Spanish allows me to combine two of my greatest passions—education and sharing the language and culture that are such an important part of who I am. My hope is that students will not only grow in their Spanish language skills but also develop an appreciation for the rich cultures and traditions of the Spanish-speaking world.

I am excited to partner with families this year as we create a fun, engaging, and encouraging classroom where students can grow in confidence while learning a new language. I can't wait to meet you and your family and make this an unforgettable year together!
